The TMA Theatre Awards are an annual event held in London’Äôs West End, and in 2007 Paul Boyd’Äôs self-directed production of his musical Pinocchio for the Lyric Theatre Belfast was nominated as The TMA Equity Best Show For Children and Young People, making it one of the top three shows produced that year for children and young people in the UK.

2006 - ’ÄòPINOCCHIO’Äô RUNS IN DUBLIN AND BELFAST CONCURRENTLY

Paul Boyd’Äôs musical Pinocchio became the first musical production to be staged simultaneously at theatres in Ireland’Äôs capital cities (Belfast and Dublin) when in 2006 the Lyric Theatre Belfast’Äôs pbm-licensed production (directed by Paul Boyd) and the Pavilion Theatre Dublin’Äôs pbm-licensed production (directed by Georgia Simpson) opened in November. The productions utilised stage designs by Stuart Marshall and costume designs by Pat Musgrave, with pbm undertaking the artistic direction of both shows.

2006 - ’ÄòMcCOOL’Äô SELECTED FOR NAMT FESTIVAL IN NEW YORK

The rock musical McCool was a big hit when it premiered on tour across Ireland in 2002 with a cast that included West End star Rachel Tucker. In subsequent years the show has been presented in student productions across the country as part of pbm’Äôs acclaimed annual musical theatre Summer School.

In 2006 McCool was selected as one of only a handful of new musicals representing the UK at the NAMT’Äôs Festival of New Musicals in New York.

The show was eventually developed for production, premiering in a staged concert version at Belfast’Äôs Lyric Theatre in October 2011, and is set for a full production in 2012.
