CHRISTINA NELSON   creative director
Christina is a professional director, writer, choreographer and workshop facilitator. She spent many years working in Community Arts and Theatre in Education before moving into performance direction on large-scale events and carnivals.  Her directing work includes Under The Water for Laganside Corporation, Lagan Life for Small World Music Ltd, Form N' Fusion Awards in Cork, Ireland and Northern Ireland's Our Town at The Millennium Dome in London, as well as numerous Belfast City Council and corporate events.
Christina was Artistic Director of Belfast Youth Circus 2001 and was a founder member of Big Fish Productions.  She created projects for Belfast's carnival company, The Beat Initiative, from 1999 until 2005 and joined pbm as Creative Director in 2004.  Her work with the company includes writing and directing pbm’Äôs many Living History programmes and directing the youth cast in the professional summer productions The Red Project (2005), The McCool Summer School (2007), The Alice The Musical Summer School (2008), The Pinocchio Summer School (2009), The Hansel & Grettel Summer School (2010), and The Red Summer School (2011).
Christina is also a well-known actress in Ireland and was the face of Ulster Bank Ltd, featuring in TV commercials and appearing in an extensive print campaign across the country.  Her 2007 performance as the Blue-Haired Fairy in the Belfast Lyric Theatre's TMA Theatre Award nominated production of pbm's Pinocchio was critically acclaimed.  Most recently she has been appearing across the UK in Cahoots NI’Äôs children’Äôs production The Snail And The Whale and wowed critics and audiences alike with her portrayal of Madame Gabrielle in the Lyric Theatre Belfast’Äôs 2009 / 2010 production of Paul Boyd’Äôs The Tale of the Beauty and the Tail of the Beast.
