’Äòpbm’Äô is Paul Boyd Music, the name under which Paul collates his back catalogue of works. The performing rights to all of Paul’Äôs shows, scripts, and scores are held by Paul Boyd Music (pbm). Occasionally ’Äòpbm’Äô refers to Purpose Built Musicals, a production company which Paul established in 2001 with creative director Christina Nelson and project director Georgia Simpson. Purpose Built Musicals was formed to meet demand from professional venues in Ireland for new productions of Paul’Äôs shows. In recent years the company’Äôs main activity has been the production of an annual musical theatre training scheme for theatres across the country.

Paul Boyd’Äôs hit musical comedy Macbeth The Musical was first produced in 1992. Since then he has written a further seventeen multi award-nominated stage musicals that have been presented in professional productions around the world, including the hit shows Alice The Musical, Pinocchio, Hansel & Grettel, The Haunting of Helena Blunden, and McCool. He is also known as the composer and co-creator of the internationally acclaimed water spectaculars The Little Mermaid and Sinbad and as the writer of countless scores, soundtracks, scripts, and songs for other professional productions staged across Europe, Asia, and the USA. In 2009 Paul agreed to return to the stage to create the role of The Writer in the hit stage comedy Spike Milligan’Äôs Puckoon, a show that he also co-wrote and scored. The production enjoyed a sell-out tour across Ireland and returned in 2011 for a second tour and a run in London’Äôs West End. In 2011 Paul directed his new stage musical Molly Wobbly’Äôs Tit Factory for Belfast’Äôs Lyric Theatre - plans for the show’Äôs 2012 return will be announced soon.
